Principal David Doyle and 2013 Graduates
Mr. Jay Arroyo, Principal, Central City Value High School
CCVC Crest

When I began my career in education I would often ponder about where I would eventually land.  At the time I was teaching at a private school in Orange County.  While I enjoyed my time at the private school I always knew that there were other opportunities and other schools where I could continue my career.  I am very thankful that I have landed here at Central City Value High School.  I am thankful for the people that started our school and for those who have given me the opportunity to be the principal at Central City.

We have an amazing group of teachers that are dedicated to providing the best possible education for our students.  Our teachers help our students learn and live our five core values – achieving academic excellence, developing one’s potential, respecting others, creating a community that inspires growth, and giving back to our community.  Our teachers have very high standards for all of our students and dedicate an enormous amount of time and energy towards helping our students reach these high standards.  Nothing makes our teachers happier than to see our students develop into young men and women that are ready to continue their education at a university.

We are very proud of our students’ accomplishments.  The class of 2017 at Central City Value High School performed exceptionally well on the SBAC assessments, outperforming the large majority of schools in the area.  Over the past couple of years, we have nearly doubled the number of students that have gained admission to schools in the University of California system.  Furthermore, we have seen a significant increase in the number of our students that earn an SAT score which will allow them to have a chance of being admitted into one of our nation’s elite universities.  While we are proud of the successes that our students have experienced, we are always looking for ways to improve the quality of education that our students receive.

Our students have also demonstrated success while participating in athletics.  During the 2015-2016 school year, our girls volleyball team and our boys basketball teams won the Los Angeles City Section Division 5 championships.  We know that participating in athletics can be a valuable part of one’s education for sports teach our students discipline, teamwork and how to handle pressure.  We enjoy seeing our students compete against other schools while recognizing that supporting our student athletes is a great way to build community.

I wake up at 4:45 am every morning at look forward to coming to school.  I am excited to be a part of the Central City team.  If you are trying to decide on a high school, I would like to invite you to explore our website. If you are interested in visiting our campus please contact our school at 213-471-4686 to arrange a student-guided tour.

The Mission of Central City Value School

Central City Value School facilitates the learning of the secondary school students who choose it so that they may become persons who make a difference for their society and their world.

The persons who will make a difference are those women and men who have received a sound education.  They can be characterized by the five core values; they will be citizens of their society and their world who:

  • actively seek to continue to learn throughout their lives;
  • have both the basic knowledge and skills that all persons can acquire and the refinement of those special talents that each person possesses;
  • respect every person and work to promote the dignity of each person;
  • find in collaborating with others that the community can gain more than what individuals can achieve on their own;
  • give something back to society through employment, civic and political participation, family life and community service from the benefit received from education.
