Foundation in Action: Career Exploration with TreePeople

We invite you to invest in our students’ futures by creating interactive opportunities at your business or organization.

We want to thank Ms. Temple, biology teacher at University Prep Value High School, for continuing to build our relationship with TreePeople of Los Angeles.

You might remember in December our students cleared growing sites in the Angeles National Forest for spring growth.  On Saturday, our students returned to the site and planted a variety of indigenous plants and saplings, including Oak.

Angie H. and Angie G. attended then graduated from Downtown Value School in 2020 and will graduate from University Prep Value High School in 2024. Both students were inspired to participate in the tree planting event because they care about the environment. They agreed that, “planting the trees is hard work, but worth it. We are happy to give back and participate in community service with our classmates.”

Angie H. plans to apply to UCLA and Loyola Marymount and pursue a degree in psychology. Angie G. is undecided about a major and will apply to four year universities close to home.

Later this spring our students will visit the TreePeople site on Mulholland Drive in Sherman Oaks for another installment of Career Exploration.

Call to Action!

Opportunities like these provide our students a chance to connect their education with real-world experience. If you would like to discuss creating an exciting, interactive experience for our students, either at our schools or at your business or organization, please contact David Doyle.
